New Artwork, Long Year
The big move a year ago still goes on. Renovating a 90 year old building one day at a time takes a while, and it is even harder trying to find the time to make new artwork, but somehow it happened.
The two top images to the right represent finding the time to enjoy the amazing outdoors here in the Western North Carolina mountains, and the lower two show how I f ound the time to move on with my more personal body of work. You may remember my first Limited Edition Print, Three Windows. Well now I have added two more Limited Editions, Quintessence and Self Portrait.
New Website
Penumbra Gallery and Studio is proud to present its second generation website, marking three and a half years in business.
This site presents more of my independent bodies of work, finished and ongoing, as well as the Sylva Collection. Now visitors are able to better see and distinguish my travels, investigations, and personal vision.
Future plans for the site include video clips from the same locations most of my images come from, as well as more in depth information on my future plans.
Check out the Services Page and About Page for new information. And please enjoy the site and leave a message in the ongoing Guest Book.
Penumbra Gallery and Studio's second generation website, marking the middle of its fourth year in business.
Three Year Anniversary Celebration was
a big hit
Penumbra's Three Year Anniversary Celebration and Opening July 21st, 2006 was a huge success. Approximately 300 people were in and out all evening long, enjoying a big night in Downtown Sylva, as all the other galleries were open for Sylva's Gallery Crawl.
Around 8:30 pm, Penumbra Gallery was near capacity during a drawing for a photograph of the winner's choice. This was the middle of the evening, framed around the live music of Ashely Chamblis with Chris Cooper, and followed by Cooking with Quanta. The winner of the drawing was Natalie Hall and she chose Tuber, an image done in 1998 while I was an undergrad at Western Carolina University. Tuber is one of my personal favorites because it marks that special time in my life and symbolizes my journeys as well.
Thanks to everyone who helped put this event together. It meant a lot to me to celebrate three good years! I am looking forward to more of them. . .
